Abstract:
Not enough data has been gathered yet to ascertain whether pregnant women are exposed to higher than normal levels of risk during the coronavirus pandemic. This uncertainty and the potential to alleviate strain on the N.H.S. cause us to recommend a Government policy of taking steps to actively discourage pregnancy among the populace at this time. This paper is written at a time when due to "lock down" conditions one might reasonably expect a baby boom to follow nine months from now, making it even more pertinent to act. In this paper we will look at what is known in regards to the risk for pregnant women, make the case that lives are at risk, and suggest a raft of measures designed to discourage couples from initiating pregnancy at the moment.
